Stranger danger alert at Queenborough Primary School, Sheppey

A school has warned parents to stay vigilant following a report of a man acting suspiciously.

Queenborough Primary School, Sheppey, has sent text messages to parents and carers telling them to be aware after the man tried to speak to children walking along Edward Road.

The alert, which was sent out today, said: “The police have received a report of a driver in a white van acting suspiciously in the local area after school last night.

“Please be vigilant. Thank you.” A police spokesman confirmed officers were sent to the scene.

He said: "We were called at 6.24pm to a report that a man in a white van had attempted to speak to children walking in Edward Road, Queenborough.

“The incident is reported to have happened at about 5pm.

“No offences were reported but a police community support officer was made aware and carried out a patrol of the area.

“He also notified the local primary school so that appropriate safety advice could be passed on to pupils and their parents/guardians."
