Oasis Academy Isle of Sheppey appeals for former pupils' help

Oasis Academy Isle of Sheppey is appealing for people who were educated on the Island to come forward to support its current pupils by forming an alumni network.

Those who sign up can help young people in person or online as career and education role models, mentors, work experience providers, governors, donors or fundraisers.

Positions are available to people who went to secondary school on the Island, such as the Secondary Modern, Sheppey Comprehensive and Minster College.

They can join regardless of when they left school, whether they are in further education or employment or whether they live nearby or have moved away.

The academy, which has one site in Minster Road, Minster, and a second in Marine Parade, Sheerness, has registered with charity Future First which is helping nearly 400 state schools to build alumni schemes.

David Millar, executive principal, said: “A network of past pupils with all their valuable experience will be vital in helping us to broaden current pupils’ jobs horizons and equip them for the world of work.”
