Traffic had to be diverted after police closed the Sheppey Crossing this morning.

The Maidstone-bound stretch was coned off from Cowstead Corner at about 8.20am.

Drivers were having to use the Kingsferry Bridge.

A police spokesman said they were called just before 8am to a broken down lorry.

He added: "Officers are currently at the scene. Recovery has been arranged for the removal of the vehicle."

The lorry was moved and the bridge reopened by 10.30am.
