House in Delamark Road, Sheerness, raided in false alarm

Neighbours suddenly found police armed with battering rams in a quiet cul-de-sac this afternoon after a 999 call for help.

Officers managed to get inside the house in Delamark Road, Sheerness, and used the ram to break into a locked room.

It is understood one of the occupants feared for the safety of a fellow lodger.

But the call was later put down to a false alarm.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police attended a property in Delamark Road, Sheerness, after an immediate call for attendance was received at 12.58pm.

"Officers have attended the scene and, due to concerns that an occupant had come to harm, forced entry to the premises.

"At present no evidence of anyone coming to harm has been uncovered."
