Search launched after concern for woman's welfare on Isle of Sheppey

Police and Kent Search and Rescue are scouring parts of Sheppey this evening after concerns were raised over the welfare of a woman.

The search is centering on Warden Bay as more than 20 police officers and several rescue teams look for a woman in her 30s.

A police spokesman said officers are "conducting a number of enquiries" after receiving reports of concern for the welfare of a woman.

Witnesses report the emergency services have been on the island since lunchtime.
