The streets of Sheerness look set to be packed this weekend when a carnival comes to town.

Sheppey Summer Carnival is due to take place on Saturday, and courts from around the county are expected to join in the fun.

There is still time to enter a float into the parade.

There will be a fun fair at Beachfields Park all day and float judging will start at 4.30pm ahead of the procession, which will leave New Road at 5.30pm.

A fireworks display on the seafront will close the event at 9.30pm.

Throughout the day, and on Sunday, there will also be a display of steam engines at Stonnes Family Centre in Halfway.

Members of the Sheppey Model Engineering Society will be displaying 10 in total, including full-size and scale models of the engines, and rides will be offered.

Some of the engines will be taking part in the carnival parade in the evening.
