The Island is set to be full of the festival spirit when the Sheppey Summer Carnival hits the streets this afternoon.
There is still time to enter a float for today’s event, with appearances confirmed from most carnival courts in Kent.
Judging will take place at the New Road playing field in Sheerness at 4.30pm.
The procession leaves at 5.30pm and the route is as follows: New Road; Broad Street; Railway Road; Millennium Way; Trinity Road; Broadway; Alma Road; Cavour Road; High Street.
It will not pass through Richmond Street or St Helen’s Road due to the Glass House fire.
There will also be a funfair at Beachfields until Sunday from mid-afternoon to late evening each day and a firework display from about 9pm on Sheerness seafront today (Saturday).
It is free to enter a float. Email details to sheppeysummercarnival@yahoo.co.uk by this morning.
Phone Joan McCall on 01795 667927 for details.
