Sheppey's B&M Bargains reopens following major refurbishment after Storm Doris damage

Sheppey’s B&M Bargains store has reopened after a seven-week revamp.

The discount shop at Neats Court Retail Park, Queenborough, was damaged in February when Storm Doris struck.

Despite trading temporarily, bosses took the decision to order a complete refit with new ceilings, walls, lights and fixtures. The most important new addition is long-awaited air-conditioning which will be welcome news for staff and shoppers.

The store threw open its doors for business today.

Manager Joe Doig said: "After the storm, the store was left with major building damage. Although we managed to repair it and make it fit for customers to shop, we felt it we needed to revamp it to make it even better.

“Builders and staff have worked really hard during the past few weeks to get it ready for Friday’s big re-launch.”

The store was reopened by members from Sheppey Matters, its chosen charity. The charity, which works to improve the health and well-being of Islanders, was presented with £250 in B&M vouchers.

Mr Doig said: “When we were looking for a charity to support, Sheppey Matters really stood out for us as they go the extra mile for the Island. We wanted to give them some VIP treatment as a thank-you for all the hard work they do. We hope our donation will help them continue their great work.”

B&M sells discounted branded products including toys, food and drink, homeware, pet products, health and beauty and seasonal ranges.
