The deadline is approaching for comments about proposed changes to the Queenborough and Rushenden regeneration masterplan.

Among alterations made by the Homes and Community Agency (HCA) is the omission of a marina adopted as part of the original scheme in November 2010.

Other proposed alterations include a reduction in the number of dwellings from 2,000 to 1,180 and the former ISTIL rolling mill site and land off Thomsett Way are now earmarked for homes.

The new plan includes health facilities off Rushenden Road as well as a green space and a community facility.

A primary school has also been kept but has been moved to be more central to the housing developments.

The marina has been replaced with a waterside hub which would include a visitor centre and potentially a pub, restaurant or cafe and the density of housing around the creek would increase.

The new masterplan is available to view on www.swale.gov.uk.
