A veteran has been reunited with his lost war medal after appealing for help to find it.

Jozef Kulpinski, of Wheatsheaf Gardens, Sheerness, mislaid the item when he was in the town for the Remembrance Day parade.

He was awarded it for service in the 5th Anti-Tank Artillery from 1943-1947 and lost it after it came loose from the ribbon.

On Wednesday it was returned by a young woman whose father had found it in the street and had seen the appeal in the Times Guardian.

The 89-year-old was ‘over the moon’ and thanked the ‘good samaritan’ who returned it.

He offered the finder a reward but she refused it.

Mr Kulpinski’s carer Angela Price said: “It’s one of those things you think won’t happen.”
