Woman taken to hospital after accident near on A249 near Sheppey Crossing

Firefighters rescued a woman who was trapped in a car following a crash today.

Crews from Sheppey and Sittingbourne attended and used hydraulic cutting equipment to take the roof of the vehicle to help free her.

It came after a collision on the A249 near Iwade just before 3pm.

An ambulance and paramedic car were spotted at the Sheppey Way roundabout before the Kingsferry Bridge.

The woman, who was suffering from back tenderness, was passed into the care of South East Coast Ambulance Service.

She was assessed at the scene before being taken to Medway Maritime Hospital, Gillingham, with what are believed to be minor injuries.
