Gavin Tait admitted it was an “easy night at the office” in what is likely to be his last fight.

Tait, 39, claimed a points win over Lewis van Poetsch at the Camden Centre in London last Saturday.

“There wasn’t a mark on me afterwards,” said the Sheppey boxer.

“I pressured him and bullied him and it was a pretty easy night at the office. I won every round and am quite happy to hang the gloves up after that.”

The latest win made it four in a row for Tait since returning to the ring after a three-year-absence.

He was fighting at super welterweight against an opponent a stone heavier but it didn’t faze the Islander.

He said: “I felt good at the heavier weight. I felt strong and was relaxed. It was a good win to go out on.”

Tait ends a decade in the sport with 14 wins (four KOs), 10 defeats and a Southern Area title.

He said: “I’ve had a good time. I’ve had a few injuries along the way but will miss it big time.

“Boxing had been my drug. I will keep involved, though. I will keep training and I’ll be backing the other professionals on the Island to succeed.

“It would have to be something substantial now for me to fight again.”
