Sheppey United will be looking to win some silverware on Saturday.

Their reserves are aiming to clinch the Maidstone District Charity Cup at Maidstone United’s Gallagher Stadium.

Standing in the way of the Kent County League Division 3 East side are Larkfield & New Hythe Reserves.

Team manager Adam Read admitted the season didn’t start well but hopes to now end it in style. He said: “We’ve used about 50 players this season and up until Christmas we had only won twice.

“We lost 6-0 and 6-1 in the opening weeks and never got close to competing with the teams around us.

“But we’ve grown as a side. Some of the players have had first-team experience and in the end we finished our season fourth in the league. Nobody saw that coming."

The club, through their sponsor Travelmaster, have laid on a coach for supporters to travel to the game for free against the Division 1 champions in the Maidstone & District League.

The game kicks off at 2pm.
