A woman has been cut free from a car after a crash on the A249 near Sittingbourne today.

Fire crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof from the vehicle, near the Stockbury roundabout, this afternoon.

The two-car crash happened on the Maidstone-bound carriageway at about 12.40pm.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said two crews were sent to the scene, along with paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service.

A spokesman said the woman, who was trapped in the vehicle, was taken to hospital. Her condition is unknown.

Crews were at the scene until about 1.15pm.
