Two men have been charged in connection with an attempted burglary at a town newsagents.

Kent police were called at 1.15am on Monday after an alarm was triggered at Lakeside News in Todd Crescent, Kemsley.

Patrols attended within minutes of taking the call and arrested two men.

Toby Earnshaw-Glazier, 19, of London Road, Sittingbourne, was charged with attempted burglary other than dwelling and possession of the Class B drug cannabis.

David Varrier, 46, of Glenbrook Grove, Milton Regis, was charged with attempted burglary other than dwelling.

Both men have been remanded in custody to appear at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court today.
