'Beautiful' Elizabeth Adams from Conyer dies after battling brain tumour

A "beautiful" teenager who inspired a huge fundraising campaign after she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour has died.

Elizabeth Adams, who attended Sittingbourne Community College (SCC) and was better known as Lizzy, received the devastating news last year that she had a mass on her brain.

The popular girl, from Conyer, bravely battled the illness for more than 12 months and inspired the local community to donate more than £55,000 to support her and the family.

KentOnline's sister paper the Sittingbourne News Extra backed the appeal at their office in Sheerness and a number of events were held to help boost fundraising efforts.

At 6.10am on Thursday morning, Lizzy "slipped away peacefully" while surrounded by her family.

A Facebook post announcing the news read: "Fly high with the angels our beautiful princess."
