Nine people hurt in three-vehicle crash on the London-bound M2 between Faversham and Sittingbourne

Nine people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on the London-bound M2.

The accident happened between Junction 6 at Faversham and Junction 5 at Sittingbourne just after 7.30pm.

Rescue crews say there were nine casualties in total, including eight walking wounded and one woman trapped in her vehicle.

Firefighters say they stabilised the vehicle and freed the woman using hydraulic cutting equipment.

All casualties have now been removed from their vehicles and are in the care of the ambulance service. All lanes have now reopened.

Kent Fire and Rescue said people in the queues behind the incident were exiting their vehicles and hampering emergency service access.

The incident was attended by three fire engines, ambulance crews, the air ambulance and police.
