Two taken to hospital after crash closes A2 at Teynham

By John Nurden

Two people have been taken to hospital after the car they were riding in smashed into a tree on the A2 at Teynham.

The force of the smash was so strong that the impact ripped the engine out of the vehicle.

Police were at the scene late last night and took photos of the horror wreck and part of the engine which ended up several feet away on grass.

The car's windscreen was also smashed in.

In a Tweet on Twitter an officer wrote: "The A2 at Teynham was closed this morning for a car vs tree RTC. Both occupants are currently at hospital. #ldpt1#engineshouldbeinthecar"

The police Tweet.

It is not yet known the current condition of the injured people.

The A2 through Teynham is a notorious accident blackspot. Several people have been killed in crashes on that stretch of road in the past.
