The Co-op in Gadby Road, Sittingbourne, is latest victim of spate of burglaries

Cigarettes were taken during a burglary at a town store.

The Co-op at Grove Park Shopping Centre, Gadby Road, was broken into at 3.40am on Friday. It is the second time in three months the shop has been targeted.

In the past 16 months, more than 535 burglaries and attempted break-ins have been brought to the attention of the News Extra.

The latest incidents are as follows:

An attempted burglary in Invicta Court, Milton Regis, on Sunday – XY/008681/14.

Cash and a till were taken from bakery AE Barrow & Sons in Sittingbourne High Street overnight between March 6 and 7 – XY/008328/14.

An iPad, a bracelet, a necklace, cash and a handbag were taken from a property in Gadby Road, Sittingbourne, on Thursday, March 6 – XY/008310/14.

Damage was caused to a door and window at a property undergoing renovations in Sheppey Way, Bobbing. It happened around lunchtime on March 3. Two teenage males were seen walking away when the burglar alarm sounded – XY/007842/14.

A garage door was damaged by unknown persons on Tuesday, March 4 in Milton Regis – XY/008030/14.
