Sittingbourne drug dealer jailed

A drug dealer who was on the run for nearly four years has been jailed.

Sittingbourne resident Anthony Maloney, 28, was arrested following a warrant at his home in Harkness Court in September 2012.

Officers found traces of cannabis and cocaine in the kitchen, as well as a large number of sealable bags commonly used for small drugs deals beneath the stairs.

A further search of a car parked nearby uncovered larger quantities of cannabis, cocaine, and the recreational drug TFMPP with a combined street value of at least £3,200.

Maloney was released pending further inquiries but failed to answer bail.

He finally handed himself in to police in Medway on July 25 and later pleaded guilty to possessing drugs of class A, B and C with intent to supply, and failing to surrender.

Maloney was jailed for two-and-a-half years at Maidstone Crown Court.

Investigating officer detective constable, Shaun Ravate, said: "I am pleased Anthony Maloney finally saw sense and handed himself in following his arrest for these offences.

"Drugs ruin people’s lives, and those who profit from the misery of others can rest assured that justice will catch up with them in the end."
