Fire service called to garage blaze in Chatsworth Drive, Sittingbourne

Firefighters were called after a double garage caught fire in Chatsworth Drive, Sittingbourne.

It happened at 2.09pm and using breathing apparatus they tackled the fire using hoses and ventilation equipment.

It took them about 25 minutes to put out the flames and clear the smoke from the buildings.

Crew manager Kev Ford said: "Our best guess is that the owner had put a rechargeable torch on to charge and because the fire started in that vicinity, something might have gone wrong with the wiring.

"We got entry to it round the back and two guys went in with breathing apparatus."

There was no car in the garage and there were no injuries.
