A corn field which was just days away from being harvested has been destroyed by fire.

It broke out on land behind Bobbing Car Breakers which is based along Sheppey Way, at around 5.20pm on Wednesday.

Appliances from Sheppey fire station as well as Sittingbourne attended the blaze.

It’s understood it took crews an hour to put the flames out.

The land is owned by ET Ledger and Son Ltd in Wormdale Hill. Nobody was available to comment.
