A group of people have found an active way to make friends – by going on weekly strolls together.

The members of the Iwade Health Walkers group met for their latest walk last Thursday, in the shopping square in the Mews, off School Lane, Iwade.

The meetings regularly attract between 15 and 25 participants, and started as an NHS incentive scheme six years ago.

Jan Morris, one of the walk leaders, said: “It is lovely, sociable and non-demanding.

“You get to make new friends alongside the benefits of walking and taking exercise in the open air.”

The group meets every Thursday outside the pharmacy in the shopping square at 10.30am for a 10.45am start.

The treks are from three to four miles, and usually last about 90 minutes.
