Happy tale of sea dog and pup

A dog rescued from the sea by a paddle boarder has been reunited with Kemsley owner.

Little Molly faced a watery grave as the rising tide covered the rock where she was stuck off Herne Bay.

But the shivering shih tzu was saved thanks to Charlie Head who was on a 600-mile ocean trip from Cornwall to London when he saw her.

His rescue came just in the nick of time – the dog was just minutes from drowning as the tide began to cover the rock.

The 33-year-old even captured on camera the moment he saved Molly from the rocks.

In heart-warming commentary, he says: "He’s just sat out there like a little dude, wondering what to do.

"He definitely needs a rescue – in about 10 minutes he’ll be completely covered in water."

Mr Head, who is training for a 3,000-mile cross-Atlantic trip, took the dog to the Hampton Inn in Herne Bay where landlord Stuart MacKenzie took her under his wing until a dog warden turned up.

Thanks to a microchip they were able to reunite the dog with her owner Gemma Williams.

However, the day before, the 30-year-old mum-of-two who suffers from ME had sold the two-year-old Molly to Eddie Kitchenside, of Wolseley Avenue, Herne Bay.

But within three hours of him having her she had slipped the lead while they were out on a walk.

The retired cleaner searched everywhere and called the dog warden. Ms Williams even joined in with the hunt, but they couldn’t find her.

She said: "She is very shy but my partner Tim and I have four dogs including her, so we thought it might be best if she went to a new home.

"She obviously didn’t want to move house.

"I think it’s fair to say that she is going to be staying with us now – I’ll never let her go again."
