Power cut in Sittingbourne leaves 3,000 homes without electricity

Around 3,000 residents in Sittingbourne are having problems with their electricity this afternoon.

Those in ME10 postcodes lost their supply at 1.15pm, but it was later restored at 2.45pm.

It is thought to have affected people from Bell Road, Woodstock Road and even out to Eden Village.

UK Power Networks said the cut was due to an underground electricity cable faulting on the high voltage network.

"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused," a spokesman added.

It comes after hundreds were left without power in Sturry, near Canterbury, after a technical fault on underground cables.
