Sittingbourne's weatherman says showers are on their way

Sittingbourne’s resident weatherman Jeremy Procter has given his opinion on whether the sun is here to stay, and it’s not looking good.

Despite recording a temperature of 33.6C yesterday, the Cobham Avenue resident thinks that we won’t be basking in the sunshine for much longer as showers will soon creep in.

He said: “The temperature didn’t drop below 19C throughout the 24-hour period, however this didn’t beat my all time highest record temperature of 36.1C, recorded last year on July 1.

“It’s already slightly cooler today, with temperatures staying around 20-23C for the rest of the week. There is also a chance of showers on Friday night.”

This mini heatwave does usually happen as the schools break up according to Jeremy but it won’t last long with next Friday being full of rain.

Thankfully, he doesn’t think this is the end of our summer season, and the weather will probably perk up again.

He said: “What is unusual is that the temperature high was recorded so late in the day at around 6pm.”
