About 20 firefighters tackled a huge fire in Hartlip involving 300 tonnes of baled hay.

Three fire engines and a water carrier were sent and crews worked to prevent the fire from spreading.

According to firefighters from Sittingbourne, the two-year-old straw was in a barn when it caught fire, but was no use to the farmer who owned it.

Strood and Medway crews also attended the fire and took it in shifts to watch it burn out by itself.

They were still there this morning.
