McDonald’s staff joined forces with Royal Marines Cadets to tackle litter around Gore Court Cricket Club and the Bobbing Apple pub.

The cleaning team was also made up of Swale council workers, including contracts monitoring officer Donna Seager.

Sixteen bags of rubbish were collected as part of the fast food giant’s Keep Britain Tidy campaign, Love Where You Live, now in its third year.

Paul Crocker, franchisee of the Bobbing site, said: “It was inspiring to see members of the community join forces to take action on litter that damages our environment.

“Unfortunately, there is still a significant proportion of people who think it’s acceptable to drop litter.

“It’s everyone’s responsibility, and through these events we wanted to generate awareness of the issue, educate those people on how to dispose of rubbish properly, and encourage them to be more responsible.”
