M2: Lane closed coastbound between Sittingbourne and Faversham

All lanes have now reopened on the M2 after an earlier crash.

Several passengers were taken to hospital after a minibus overturned on a motorway this morning.

Fire and ambulance crews were called to the incident which closed a lane of the M2 between Sittingbourne and Faversham shortly after 9.30am.

Only the one vehicle was involved and the injured passengers are not thought to be seriously hurt.

Three fire engines were called to the scene between junction 5 for Sittingbourne and junction 6 for Faversham.

All lanes have now reopened.

Kent Police and the ambulance service have also been called.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called to a report of a collision involving an overturned minibus on a verge near the coastbound M2 between junctions 5 and 6.

"Officer were called to the scene at 9.31am on Saturday, January 20.

"KFRS and Secamb were also in attendance.

"The occupants of the bus were taken to a local hospital as a precaution."
