A man has died from his injuries eight days after being hit by a car.

The Polish national, who had only been in the country 24 hours, was airlifted to the Royal London hospital following the accident in Avenue of Remembrance, Sittingbourne.

The driver of the silver Ford Fiesta, a 37-year-old woman from the town, was not injured.

Witnesses are being urged to come forward.

Det Sgt Scott Lynch, of Kent Police’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “This is now a fatal collision investigation and anyone who saw what happened but perhaps did not think to leave their details, I urge you to call in with information to help with our inquiries.”
