Sittingbourne: Police make two arrests after three robberies in a week

Police are investigating three robberies in Sittingbourne - including one where a man's head was stamped on.

The first was last Tuesday when a taxi driver was robbed by a man who got into the cab and stole cash in Chappell Way, Milton, at about 11pm.

Then just after midnight on Saturday a 21-year-old man had his phone and wallet taken by two men in Bell Road while he was walking home after a night out.

And in the early hours of Sunday in Milton Road, Sittingbourne, at about 2.30am, an 18-year-old was approached by two men who tried to take his bag.

They are said to have stamped on his head before fleeing empty handed.

Detectives have made two arrests in connection with the Bell Road robbery.

Lawrence Heathfield, who is 24, of Crown Quay Lane, Sittingbourne, was charged with being in possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

A second man, aged 27, was arrested and has been released while police continue with their investigation.
