Kent Police chase driver from Iwade to Lordswood in Medway

A helicopter was called in as the police chased a vehicle for 16 miles.

Officers asked a driver to stop in Old Ferry Road, Iwade, at 10.59pm on Friday.

But he drove away at high speed and they gave chase with the help of the helicopter crew.

The vehicle was eventually stopped in Heron Way, Lordswood.

A 29-year-old man from Gillingham and a 16-year-old boy from Chatham were arrested for driving offences at 11.29pm.

Both are accused of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, drink driving and going equipped for theft.

This morning, a police spokesman said the pair had been bailed pending further inquiries.#

The spokesman added: “The 16-year-old has been bailed until Tuesday, October 11 and the 29-year-old has been bailed until Wednesday, October 12.
