A BOY of nine whose disappearance triggered a major search in a Kent town has been found safe and well.

Samuel Maggs, known as Sam, went missing at about 11.45am on Thursday from Sittingbourne Community College in Swanstree Avenue. He was found a few hours later in the town's Lynsted Lane.

Police Inspector Julie Dodge, who was part of the search team, said: "Everybody from the local community joined forces to search for Sam.

"We are delighted he has been found safe and well and I would like to thank everyone for their efforts."
