Sheppey Way: Van destroyed in fire at Bobbing, Sittingbourne

A van was destroyed after bursting into flames in Bobbing, near Sittingbourne.

Firefighters were called to Sheppey Way at about 2.15pm.

The vehicle, a Nissan, was well alight when they arrived.

Crew manager Mat Barney from Sittingbourne Fire Station said: "The driver had noticed smoke in the cab so did the right thing and pulled over.

"It was well alight when we got there and fully destroyed by fire."

The crew, along with another from Chatham, were there about 45 minutes.

Police shut the road between Key Street and the Bobbing services.

The driver was also checked over by a passing ambulance crew.
