The Wisdom Hospice holds first colour run in Swale at Milton Creek Country Park

The Wisdom Hospice’s first “colour run” was a particularly heartfelt journey for some who took on the 5km course.

Sarah Holden gathered 23 of her closest friends and family to complete the race at Milton Creek Country Park last Saturday in memory of her mother, Angela Stainton.

She had been receiving help from the charity’s palliative care team in the weeks before she died on Mother’s Day.

Sarah and her group have already raised more than £3,000 for the worthy cause via an online Just Giving page.

So far, just days after the race and with not all sponsorship collected, the hospice has counted over £7,500 in donations.

Katie Tyler, community fundraiser for The Wisdom Hospice, said: “Thank you to Sarah and her family and friends for showing such tremendous support for the Friends of the Wisdom Hospice.

“They have raised an incredible amount and we are extremely grateful.

“At the end of a busy day, it was a poignant moment to witness Sarah’s group release balloons in memory of her mother, and reminded us all of the cause behind our fundraising.”
