Sittingbourne Specsavers staff spot a way to raise Comic Relief cash

Cakes were snapped up by shoppers who popped into Specsavers at The Forum shopping centre on Friday.

Staff made the tasty treats themselves as part of a Red Nose Day bake sale in aid of Comic Relief.

It marked the end of Fundraising Fridays, which were held by the store throughout February.

Week one, workers paid £1 to wear red for the day, the second was a Valentine’s themed tombola with prizes donated by local shops and week three saw employees ride 100 miles on a static bike.

All their hard work paid off as they raised a total of £327.66. Of that £78.12 came from the bake sale.

Manager Sarah Gilliam said: “Customers have been extremely generous.”

The store is now selling limited edition spectacles at £3 each with £1 from every pair going towards the charity.
