Sittingbourne's The Forum shopping centre is putting on a range of Halloween activities for children

A series of spook-tacular workshops will be held at The Forum in the run up to Halloween this week.

A Roman golden mummy replica, previously featured in Channel 5’s Golden Mummies Tomb Opening Live 2000, will be on display throughout the week at CSI: Sittingbourne within the High Street-based shopping centre.

Archaeological experts will also be on hand to provide educational talks about the mystery and wonders of Egypt and expeditions they have taken part in.

The full list of activities, some of which are chargeable, are as follows:

Today from 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm, bring any doll, action figure or small toy and mummify it.

Tomorrow, throughout the day, visitors will be given the chance to ask former Time Team Conservator Dana Goodburn-Brown about her archaeological expeditions.

On the same day, between 7pm and 8pm, Luciana Carvalho, Egyptology enthusiast and final year student of the Master of Science (MSc) in Conservation for Archaeology and Museums at University College London (UCL), will give a talk at Trenchers Café on the adventures of a trainee conservator in an archaeological dig in Egypt.

Wednesday, from 11am to 4pm, youngsters can make their very own Anglo-Saxon badge.

Thursday is games day. See the Lyminge Anglo-Saxon gaming piece and join The Sittingbourne Board Games Club as they run a variety of games throughout the day.

Last but not least is Freaky Friday Fun. Children can make their own ‘Day of the Dead’ badge from 11am until 4pm.

The mummy making workshop will run again between 2pm and 4pm and Cherry Drop Face Painting will be on hand to transform little shoppers into mini ghouls and witches from 11am until 4pm.

There will also be a safe trick or treating game where kids are invited to pick up a form and hunt for posters around the centre. Once they spot all 10 they will receive a free treat.

The YAK Dance crew will perform routines to hits such as ‘Thriller’ by Michael Jackson at 1pm.

Centre manager Rachel Jenman said: “We are thrilled to be offering an educational perspective on Halloween as well as fun, entertaining activities.”
