Motorbike and lorry crash on M2 London-bound between J6 for Faversham and J5 for the Stockbury roundabout

Traffic was at a standstill after a motorbike and lorry crashed on a motorway.

All vehicles were being temporarily held between J6 for Faversham and J5 for the A249 heading for Sittingbourne, Sheppey and Maidstone, but the sliproad has now reopened.

A police spokesman said they were called at 3.33pm "to reports of a collision involving a motorcyclist and lorry on the London-bound carriageway of the M2 near junction 5."

An ambulance spokesman confirmed a motorcyclist, who was suffering from leg and arm pain, has been taken to Medway Maritime Hospital.

Kent Highways has said delays of up to an hour are expected by the slip road.

Officials confirmed traffic returned to normal at around 6pm.
