Thieves made off empty handed after they broke into Sittingbourne FC’s clubhouse.

A flatscreen TV, alcohol, soft drinks and snacks were found piled up in front of the door.

It’s thought the culprits left them behind after being interrupted by police arriving at Central Park Stadium, Church Road, Murston.

The alarm was raised by the burglar alarm company, just after midnight on Sunday.

Entry was gained by smashing a window to the main entrance.

Licensee Peter Harris said: "The 50in television was smashed and they smashed the alarm system up as well.

"Apart from trashing the place and leaving muddy footprints, they left everything.

"It’s not the first time this has happened."
