Children at an after-school club enjoyed a taste of France.

The club at Westlands Nursery was decked out with tricolours, a map of the country and pictures of the Eiffel Tower, which provided a colourful backdrop for tasting the food.

Youngsters got creative with coloured paper and took artist Henri Matisse as the inspiration for their own work.

Gallic style even came under scrutiny as the children created typical French outfits from pictures of costumes.

Club manager Melissa Prince said: “Learning about France was valuable as the experience of other countries and cultures helps in their development and understanding of the world.”

The after school club will run during next week’s half term. It is for children aged four to 11.
