There were mixed fortunes for Shane Byrne at round three of the British Superbike Championship.

Sittingbourne rider Byrne crashed out of the first race at Oulton Park on Bank Holiday.

But champion Shakey made amends by winning the second race on his Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki.

Byrne was second, behind Alex Lowes, when he slid off on the 12th lap of 18.

The 36-year-old responded by holding off Lowes and Josh Brookes to claim his fourth win of the season.

Shakey, who trails Lowes by a point in the championship, said: "Getting that win in the second race has definitely put a smile on my face and it was the best way of saying sorry to the team for crashing out in race one.

"The crash was a strange one as I didn't do anything differently on that lap but the front just folded on me without warning and that was that."
