Axed rider Sam Woods has vowed to prove Kent Kings wrong.

Woods has been released after only five meetings and replaced by Ashford man Mark Baldock.

The 19-year-old struggled in the difficult No.2 slot but felt he deserved more time.

He said: "I had a gut feeling it may be coming. It’s harsh and a bit unfair because I haven’t had a proper chance.

"I was coming back from a bad ankle injury and this is my first year in the National League but these things happen in sport.

"They’re doing what they think is best for the team.

"All I can do is keep getting better, prove I can do it and prove they made the wrong decision.

"If I start stressing and getting upset about it, my confidence will suffer and I’ll go backwards."
