Sittingbourne go into Saturday's final match of the Ryman League, Division 1 South season with a top-half finish in their sights.

Victory over Burgess Hill would secure a top-half finish for Bourne, who had just three points from seven games when joint-managers Matt Wyatt and Nick Davis succeeded Jim and Danny Ward in September.

They want to finish the season on a high and make up for their 7-1 humiliation at Burgess Hill at the end of March.

Wyatt believes it’s time Bourne were given more credit for their achievements.

He said: “To get to 60 points is a remarkable achievement given where we were when me and Nick took over.

"We’ve had a couple of bad results and it wasn’t so long ago people were saying I was clueless but now it’s Magic Matt and Matty Mourinho.

“People see us as little old Sittingbourne and the players haven’t been given the credit they deserve. We’ve had one defeat in nine since losing to Burgess Hill."

Davis misses the Burgess Hill game with an ankle injury, while Ashley Ulph and Tom Brunt face fitness tests.
