Shane Byrne is out to repeat last season’s Snetterton double when the British Superbike Championship resumes after a five-week break.

The Sittingbourne rider won both races at the Norfolk circuit in 2014 and goes into the weekend buoyed by a successful test there at the end of May.

The PBM Kawasaki man hasn’t won since the opening round at Donington Park in April and was denied victory in the last race at Oulton Park after rival Ryuichi Kiyonari sent the pair crashing out.

Byrne said: “We had a pretty good test at Snetterton and, generally speaking, it was productive.

“We did lots of laps and were strong over a race distance on race tyres. Ultimately, that is what is going to get you 25 points.

“It has been a difficult start to the season with just one win and the last time I rode the bike I had the crash with Kiyo."

Byrne is eight points behind James Ellison after three rounds and wants that winning feeling back.

He added: “I want to score as many podium points as I can between now and the Showdown as that is when it gets really serious."
