There were 320 runners in the Sittingbourne Invicta 10k race on Sunday with Damian Coleman taking exactly 35 minutes to reach the finish line, writes Alan Newman.

The M40 master from Deal Triathletes is close to notching up his twentieth Whitstable Parkrun win but this was his first significant open event success.

Darren Jordan (M40 Cheltenham, 35:22) and Sean Molloy (Tonbridge, 35:53) were runners-up in the medal positions.

Local men at the sharp end were Kris Noble (Sittingbourne Striders, 36:35); Jack O’Sullivan (M40 Dartford Road Runners, 37:02); Michael Lemon (M40 Dartford RR, 37:34); Robert White (M40 Dartford RR, 37:58) and Daniel Walsh (Istead and Ifield Harriers, 38:06).

Andrew Fletcher (M50 unattached, 39:43) and David Thornby (M60 Maidstone Harriers, 42:37) were the higher age group winners.

Liz Weeks (Sittingbourne, 37:18) added another quality time to her account to win the women’s race from Alice Heather-Hayes (Tunbridge Wells Harriers, 38:09) and Sarah Gruber (Sittingbourne, 42:35).

Also prominent were local club athletes Sally Kyle (Dartford RR, 43:32); Claire Wilkins (Medway and Maidstone, 47:12); Laura Woods (Sittingbourne, 47:55) and Rose-Marie Doyle (Dartford RR, 49:10).

Leading age group runners were W40 Lucy Hewett (unattached, 48:12); W50 Janice Moorekite (Maidstone Harriers, 52:51) and W60 Monique Viaud (Bled Runners, 53:54).
