Kent SLYDE Kings are on the verge of their first ever semi final place in the National League’s knock-out cup.

The Kings have one foot in the semis following Monday night’s 14-point first-leg win over Coventry Storm in the quarter-finals at Central Park.

Buoyed by that 52-38 scoreline, the Murston-based outfit will now travel to Coventry on Friday night with the upper-hand in the second leg.

Skipper Ben Morley got the Kings off to the perfect start on Monday, racing off to a heat one victory and clocking the fastest time of the 2015 season around the circuit.

That performance was quickly followed by a first 5-1 of the campaign by the SLYDE-backed Kings’ two reserves Adam Sheppard and Jamie Couzins.

In heat three Danny Ayres and Aaron Baseby were hugely impressive. With three races down the Kings held a six point lead already.

Dan Greenwood attempted to keep Coventry in contention, clinching four race victories, but it was the Kings' night.
