Boss Nick Davis is set to make an emergency appearance for Sittingbourne.

He’ll start in central defence at Carshalton on Saturday as Brickies are missing George Crimmen (suspended) and Matt Harden (unavailable) while Ollie Brown is struggling to be fit.

Davis, 32, intended to stay on the touchline after returning to Woodstock Park as manager but needs must.

He said: “I’ve got the go-ahead from the board so I’ll be dusting off the old boots. I’m a little nervous if I’m honest! I trained last Thursday and will train both nights this week. I haven’t played for a few weeks but I’ll talk my way through the game.

“I picked up an injury at the end of last season that kept me out for four months.

“I didn’t have much of a pre-season but I played 16 games for Tunbridge Wells before coming back to Sittingbourne. I won’t be 100% match-sharp, but I’ll get through it."

Assistant boss Barry Crimmen will look after matters on the touchline.

Davis added: “Barry’s been spot-on. I’ll have a rough idea about substitutions but I trust him to make decisions if need be.”
