Sittingbourne manager Nick Davis says December results will have bearing on Ryman League Division 1 South play-off hopes

December could be a defining month for Sittingbourne's Ryman League Division 1 South play-off ambitions.

Nick Davis’ in-form side have started it well, with Tuesday night's 3-2 win over Walton Casuals following Saturday's 2-2 draw at fancied Lewes.

Brickies head to title-chasing Dorking Wanderers this weekend just three points off the play-off positions and Davis believes the next few games could be crucial.

He said: “It’s a big month for us and December could be defining. We end it against Hastings and start the new year against Greenwich Borough.

“Once we get into January we should be able to tell if we’re going to be a mid-table side or capable of pushing for the play-offs.

“We are confident and hopefully we can stay hanging onto the coat tails of those teams above us. If we do that, then come January, anything could happen."

He added: “On our day we are as good as anyone in this league.

“This time last year it wasn’t so good, it was daunting times and I didn’t get many decent nights’ sleep but we’re enjoying it now."

Davis has few team concerns ahead of the weekend, with Steven Ita closing in on a return to the squad following injury.
