A bumper crowd saw Kent Kings beat King's Lynn Young Stars to lift the Easter Trophy at Central Park on Monday.

There was an early blow for Kings when skipper Simon Lambert's bike shuddered to a halt with a faulty carburettor in the opening heat.

But the hosts bounced back by reeling off a hat-trick of one-twos in the next three heats to take control of the meeting.

Six of the seven Kent riders recorded heat wins as Kent triumphed 52-39.

Ben Morley underlined his confident start to the campaign by top-scoring with 12 points and a bonus point (12+1).

Captain Lambert (10+1), David Mason (8+2), Benji Compton (8), Brandon Freemantle (7+2), Luke Harris (5+1) and Luke Chessell (2) completed Kent's tally.

Kings face back-to-back away matches at Coventry on May 2 and Stoke on May 3.
