Kent Kings took bronze in the National League Pairs Championship at Mildenhall on Sunday.

Kent were represented by captain Simon Lambert – the most successful rider in the history of the competition – and Ben Morley.

Kings finished runners-up to hosts Mildenhall in a tough group that also included 2013 champions Cradley Heathens and Devon Demons.

Kent’s hopes of bettering last season’s third-placed finish ended when Lambert suffered a puncture in the final against eventual winners Stoke.

Lambert said: “Myself and Ben tried our best today to bring the title home to Kent but we just didn’t get the breaks and fell just short.”

Kent are back in National League action on Monday night (6.30pm), with Devon Demons the visitors to Central Park.

Kings are at full strength and have already beaten Demons home and away in the Knockout Cup this season.
